| EDD (Early Diagnosis
Day)
A Cancer diagnosis is obviously very distressing for patients
and their families/carers. Our Early Diagnosis Service has
been specially designed to help people cope at this traumatic
time.
It provides the opportunity to meet others who are in a
similar situation and to share experiences, thoughts and
feelings.
At EDD you will have time to talk to experienced nurses
and trained therapists, but more importantly to each other,
you are the experts YOU KNOW HOW IT FEELS.
Our EDD service consists of ten sessions: within each session
various issues are discussed either as a group or on a one-to
one basis with trained nurses These can include body image
issues, hair loss, effects of cancer on the family, chemotherapy
etc.
Our nurses and therapists are highly skilled and experienced
in recognising the individual needs of patients. They gently
encourage patients to express their fears and feelings and
to share these with others who are in a similar situation
Complementary Therapy plays a big part in EDD. Aromatherapy,
Reiki, Reflexology and Psychotherapy are available (please
see Complementary Therapy Section of this site).
